Today’s local communities face increasing environmental challenges, including wildfires, hydrogeological risks, and climate change. These issues require sustainable land management, careful planning, and targeted actions to reduce environmental pressures and improve resilience.
The very nature of our business enables us to play an active role in sustainable land management. By using biomass fuel derived from forestry and agricultural management activities, we contribute to significant environmental benefits, including reducing wildfire risk, supporting forest regeneration and increasing carbon sequestration, maintaining forest road networks, improving surface water management, and mitigating hydrogeological risks.
Research and Development (R&D) is another key pillar of our commitment. Our activities focus not only on making electricity generation increasingly safe and sustainable, but also on researching and developing innovative biomass applications that further strengthen the principles of a truly circular economy. We pursue these objectives in close collaboration with our suppliers of biomass, goods, and services, supported by a team of specialised consultants who help us continuously improve our performance.
Our Impact in Numbers
- Economic value generated: tens of millions of euros each year.
- Employment: hundreds of direct and indirect jobs supported across the value chain.
- Maritime logistics: approximately 60 vessels handled annually through the Port of Crotone, transporting around 300,000 tonnes of biomass with the involvement of local port operators.
- Road logistics: approximately 450,000 tonnes of biomass transported annually from production sites to our plants, together with port-to-plant transport operations involving a dedicated truck fleet and logistics companies, accounting for around 22,000 truck deliveries per year for biomass supply and unloading.
È stato sviluppato il nuovo modello di business della filiera corta con i ruoli di tutti gli attori della parte agro-industriale ed è stato definito il modello economico-finanziario di ripartizione degli incentivi tariffari sulla base delle prestazioni del segmento agricolo e di quello energetico; questo modello, trasferito in un software dedicato, diventa la base di definizione degli accordi commerciali con la massima trasparenza per tutti gli operatori.
